On February 11th, 2005,
Governor Frank Murkowski established a task force to examine several issues
and make recommendations for responses to those issues related to the
announced closure of the Agrium nitrogen plant in Nikiski as of November
1st, 2005. These issues include assisting Agrium employees losing jobs
and exploring new ways of spurring economic growth in the Cook Inlet
Basin.
